Search Assistant AppsAreFun is a software program that operates as an adware program and is compatible with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome. This program gathers and retains data on users' web browsing patterns and transmits this information to remote servers to deliver targeted advertising in search results and other locations. Search Assistant is also capable of altering the browser's home page and search provider, displaying pop-up ads, and tracking and reporting web surfing behaviors. Additionally, it presents search results and pop-up advertisements based on the user's search terms, adds its own browser toolbar, and installs a browser helper object (BHO) in Internet Explorer to monitor web search terms and implement the browser toolbar. Furthermore, it may send event logs and other system-related information to a server, as well as automatically download and install updates without user notification.
