Search Assistant SoftQuick is an adware program that is compatible with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome. This software is designed to collect and store information on web browsing habits, sending this data to remote servers for the purpose of delivering targeted advertising within search results and other areas of web browsing. In addition to modifying the browser's home page and search provider, Search Assistant displays pop-up advertisements and tracks user web surfing behavior. This program also integrates its own browser toolbar and installs a browser helper object (BHO) in Internet Explorer to monitor web search terms and implement the toolbar. Furthermore, it may transmit event logs and system-related data to a server and has the capability to automatically download and install updates without user notification. Additionally, Search Assistant installs a file called SProtector, which is identified as malware by various antivirus products including DrWeb, QuickHeal, Trend, and Avast.
