HippoGeek is a web browser toolbar and extension with adware features designed to optimize user search and browsing experience. The web extension is intended to enhance the user's browser search capabilities by modifying the search provider and redirecting web searches to a specific search engine partner in order to increase potential revenue through sponsored advertising. The application also includes features such as changing the default home page and search provider, modifying the functionality of the browser's new tab, providing automatic updates, and adding alternative error and page not found functionality. Additionally, HippoGeek is equipped to protect search and home page settings, access the HTML of visited pages and capture URLs and search terms. It also has the capability to inject advertising in the form of context ads, pop-ups, and pop-unders.
