Western Digital, also known as WD, is a leading hard disk drive manufacturer with a rich history in the electronics industry and as a storage products company. In addition to its hardware offerings, Western Digital provides a range of software utilities for use with its hard drives, including Data Lifeguard Tools and Data Lifeguard Diagnostics. WD Smartware, a backup software, is also offered with many of its drives, enabling users to back up Documents, Pictures, Movies, Emails, and more, and continuously monitor drive locations for changes. Additionally, many OEMs that integrate WD drives into their PCs often pre-install a variety of WD-based software utilities on the systems.
