Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

The Client Profile is a software framework that enables the execution of client applications targeting the .NET Framework 3.5. This framework includes a robust library and allows for language interoperability across various programming languages. Programs developed for the .NET Framework operate within the Common Language Runtime, an application virtual machine that offers essential services such as security, memory management, and exception handling. Together, the class library and the CLR constitute the .NET Framework. Similar to the .NET Framework 3.0, version 3.5 utilizes the CLR of version 2.0. Additionally, it installs .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 (with 3.5 SP1) and .NET Framework 3.0 SP1 (with 3.5 SP1), which introduces methods and properties to the BCL classes in version 2.0 required for version 3.5 features such as Language Integrated Query (LINQ). The .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1, released on 11 August 2008, introduces new functionality and offers performance improvements, particularly with WPF where improvements of 20–45% can be expected. Notably, two new data service components, the ADO.NET Entity Framework and ADO.NET Data Services, are incorporated into this release.
