ClearType Tuning Control Panel Applet

ClearType is a technology developed by Microsoft to enhance the rendering of text in font systems by implementing subpixel rendering. It aims to enhance the appearance of text on specific computer display screens, particularly on LCD flat panel monitors, by sacrificing color fidelity for improved intensity variation. While some versions of Microsoft Windows provide the option to enable or disable ClearType with no adjustments, others offer the flexibility to tune ClearType parameters. Additionally, a Microsoft ClearType tuner utility is available for free download for Windows versions that lack this feature. Even if ClearType is disabled in the operating system, applications with their own ClearType controls can still support it. Microsoft Reader, designed for e-books, includes its own ClearType tuner for further customization.
