Spy Alert

This software is a web browser extension and Browser Helper Object (BHO) that serves contextual-based advertising to the web browser. Additionally, it may customize the user's browser homepage, search pages, and 'New Tab' pages to display advertising and sponsored search content. It is classified as adware and is typically considered unwanted by various malware vendors. The End User License Agreement (EULA) states that Spy Alert installs a browser extension in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome. All of the software's files are installed in the standard 'C:\Program Files (x86)' location and include an uninstaller registered to appear in the computer's 'Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs' section. A link to the uninstaller is also added to the Start Menu under 'Start > Programs > Spy Alert'. Additionally, a couple of registry settings are added to the Windows Registry, which are necessary for the software's normal operation. This software utilizes a bundle installer, which may present users with optional offers such as a search toolbar during the installation process. Users are given the choice to "Accept" or "Skip All" offers, and offers associated with the search toolbar may include the option to change the default search engine, home page, and/or new tab page.
