QuickShare

QuickShare, also known as Smartbar, is an auto-starting program commonly bundled with various shareware software. It is designed to display advertising and integrate with social networks such as Facebook and Twitter to enable sharing features, including access to core Facebook permissions. It has been flagged as low-level adware by multiple top-tier anti-virus/anti-spyware programs. The Smartbar has the following functionalities: - Alters the default search engine in the web browser's built-in search box. - Modifies the default home page of the web browser. - Adds alternative "page not found" functionality. - Enables search from the address bar of the web browser. - Facilitates software updates once new versions are released. - Adds, removes, or modifies components interacting with search input fields. The main process, quickshare.exe, is set to run as a startup file in the local run registry (HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run) under the name "Browser Infrastructure Helper". According to the End User License Agreement (EULA): "Linkury provides Users, inter alia, with a toolbar to be implemented in User's web browser. You also understand and agree that the Linkury Services may include advertisements and that these advertisements are necessary for Linkury to provide the Services. You also understand and agree that the Linkury Services may include certain communications from Linkury and you will not be able to opt out of receiving them."
