This adware extension, known as GreatSaver, is designed to integrate with web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox, and delivers additional advertisements within search engines like Bing and Google. Upon installation as a BHO/plugin, it operates as a background process and can also be found within the Add or Remove Programs section. However, simply removing this entry may not fully prevent the display of advertisements. Once installed, GreatSaver injects new ads into search results and various web pages that feature 3rd party advertising, effectively replacing existing ads. The program utilizes the InstalleRex download manager from WebPicks Holdings to establish itself on the user's PC. Notably, InstalleRex has a history of distributing potentially unwanted applications, including web browser toolbars and ad-supported extensions. While GreatSaver is a re-branded variant of previously known adware such as SaveAs, SaveNShare, and DownloadKeeper, it effectively encompasses many of the same components. This makes it important for users to be vigilant and cautious with their web browsing activities to avoid potential exposure to unwanted advertisements and extensions.
