About Google Desktop Search?

Google Desktop was a desktop search software developed by Google that enabled users to conduct text searches of their email messages, computer files, music, photos, chats, web pages, and other "Google Gadgets". The software also featured a Sidebar, which housed common Gadgets and was available for both MS Windows and GNU/Linux versions. The Sidebar could be set to Auto-Hide mode, and when minimized, new email and news could be displayed in a pop-up window above the Windows Taskbar. Additionally, Google Desktop displayed a "Quick Find" window when searching in the sidebar, deskbar, or floating deskbar, which showed the most relevant results from the user's computer and updated in real-time as the user typed. However, it is important to note that Google Desktop was discontinued and is no longer available for download.
