Mapit Toolbar

Mapit Toolbar is a Community Toolbar developed by Conduit, designed to integrate with web browsers such as IE, Chrome, and Firefox. The toolbar functions as an ad-supported program, displaying ads within the bar itself and may adjust the browser's home page and search settings for the purpose of gathering usage statistics. It is often bundled with third-party developer programs to help generate revenue from free and some paid software. During installation, users may be given the option to modify the home and search pages, although it is typically preselected and overlooked. If the software is uninstalled, the settings will need to be manually reverted. As per the EULA, the company may automatically download and install remote updates and collect and store details about the user's web browsing activities locally on the PC in order to suggest additional services or provide targeted advertising through the toolbar application. The license agreement states, "By Using a Conduit Software you may enable Conduit to access, use, and collect a variety of information, both personal and non-personal, regarding your Internet Browser, your browsing habits, and information about your computer."
