WebMinds Toolbar

WebMinds Toolbar, powered by ASK, is a web-browser add-on that can integrate as an additional toolbar in the browser's window and/or menu. It is often included during the installation of other software, sometimes without adequate notification. The Ask Toolbar, along with other applications, is increasingly being bundled with programs, particularly with freeware. It is commonly installed during the installation of a program, and users may overlook the option to opt out of installing the Ask Toolbar. Ask.com has partnered with various software security vendors, leading to the distribution of the toolbar alongside their software. When using the Toolbar to initiate a search, the query information is transmitted to Ask servers, which are then used to process the web search requests and return the search results page. During installation, users may be given the option to modify the home and search pages; however, this is often enabled by default and goes unnoticed. If the software is removed from the user's computer, the settings will need to be manually reverted.
