The Web Browser Search toolbar by Make The Web Better is a cross-browser plugin designed for Internet Explorer (BHO) and Firefox/Chrome (plugin). It is distributed through various platforms and includes ad-support. The toolbar may display additional banner, search, pop-up, pop-under, interstitial, and in-text link advertisements. This browser extension features various functions such as modifying the default or custom browser settings including the home page, search settings, and load time threshold for Internet Explorer. It also places a lock file within Firefox to prevent competing software from changing its settings and disables the browser's Content Security Policy to allow cross-site scripting of the plugin. The toolbar also changes the default search engine in the web browser's built-in search box, modifies the default home page, adds alternative "page not found" functionality, enables search from the browser's address bar, and allows for software updates when new versions are released. As stated in the End User License Agreement (EULA), the software is configured to report back information automatically in order to diagnose performance issues and improve the software. If users choose to allow the software to change their default search settings, it will affect both the browser search box and the address bar.
